Chris Garcia-Prats
Head Coach

  • 2002 graduate of Trinity University
  • Coach Garcia-Prats begins his ninth year as head coach in 2016
  • He has led the Norse to a record of 93-52-15, 38-19 in the Iowa Conference
  • His teams have won two Iowa Conference championships (2011, 2013) and made two appearances in the NCAA III National Tournament (2011- round of 16, 2013)
  • In 2013 the Norse were ranked nationally as high as No. 6 with a final ranking of No. 22; in 2014 they Norse spent five weeks in the national rankings with a high at No. 7
  • During his tenure he has coached student-athletes who have earned three All-American honors, 28 all-conference honors and 12 all-Region honors
  • In 2011 he was named the Iowa Conference Coach of the Year and NSCAA North Region Coach of the Year
  • Prior to Luther, he served as the assistant men's soccer coach and recruiting coordinator at Trinity University. During this stretch Trinity University made six NCAA Tournament appearances and three semifinal appearances, winning the national championship in 2003, and finishing second in 2007
  • He also served has a head coach for the Classics Elite Soccer Academy in San Antonio and an Olympic Development Program state coach for the South Texas Region since 2004
  • During his playing days, he started 86 of 87 games serving as a two-year captain
  • Four-time Southern Collegiate Athletic all-conference honoree. Also was an NSCAA All-Region selection in 2000
  • Played on two SCAC Championship teams and two NCAA National Tournament teams
  • During his four-year career, Trinity University posted a record of 74-10-2

James Garcia-Prats
Assistant Coach

  • 2014 graduate of Luther College - B.A. - Sociology
  • The 2016 campaign will be James' third year as assistant coach
  • Made 79 appearances while helping lead Norse to two Iowa Conference titles and two appearances in the NCAA III National Tournament
  • Tallied 13 goals and 22 assists during his career
  • Two-time NCAA III All-American at midfield
  • Three-time all-Iowa Conference selection
  • Three-time all-Region selection
  • NCAA Postgraduate Scholar
  • Also serves as Decorah High School Boys Head Soccer Coach in the spring
